WYBUNBURY HISTORY: Below is just a small outline of how the Tower has changed over the years from once being a part of a church to now being an attraction in its own right.

There have been many churches on this elevated site but only the tower remains. Its tendency to lean has earned it the title the "Leaning Tower of South Cheshire" or in earlier days the "Hanging Steeple of Wimberie".

  Inside the Church Inside the Church
    This image shows you what it looked like in the the original St Chad's Church before it was knowcked down. You can see this picture for yourself if you visit the tower. Look out for it on the ground floor before ascending the stairs.

A great marble edifice to Sir Thomas Smith of Hough who died in 1614 and his wife is now in Nantwich Church, but was formerly in Wybunbury Church.
